From the 5th of october 2011 to the 16th of January 2012, the Galeries Nationales du Grand Palais, Paris’s prestigious exhibition space, is hosting the exhibition Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso ... The Stein family. This exhibition gathers for the first time in Paris the exceptional collection of artworks collected by the Stein family. This innovative application will help you to prepare your visit and guide you through the exhibition.
This tour of about an hour, produced in collaboration between the National Museums and Espro Acoustiguide, includes pictures of the artworks and audio commentaries in order to help you to understand the role played by the Stein in the emergence of a new artistic standard in the early twentieth century. Since the masters considered by Leo Stein as founders : Cezanne, Manet, Renoir, Degas, to the most recent artists that have enjoyed the support of Gertrude Stein: Atlan, Picabia this is the history of the avant-garde in the first half of the twentieth century that is depicted here. Much space is left to Matisse and Picasso, two huge figures in the the success of whom the Stein contributed significantly. Additional content will allow you to explore specific topics.
